TMI Eleven Rules Academic All-Stars (Abilene Reporter-News, Thursday, December 11, 1952)

SAN MARCOS, Dec. 11 (AP) -- Texas Military Institute of San Antonio, which won the Southwest Academic League football championship, dominates the all-star team.

The team, selected by the league's state executive committee, listed four from TMI.  Concordia of Austin landed two while Laneri of Fort Worth, Sacred Heart of Muenster, San Marcos Academy, Boys Ranch of Bedford and Buckner Orphans Home of Dallas each contributed one player.

The committee selected the team from the three all-district teams picked by the coaches.  Selecting the all-state were Eugene Linse of Concorida, president of the league; Charles Boldin of Buckner, Harold Tate of San Marcos Academy, Joe Strong of TMI, Brother Walter Foken of St. Edward's and Red Teague of Boys Ranch.

The team:  Ends - Bob Cunningham, Laneri, and Joe Vallack, TMI; tackles - John Pickett, Concordia, and William Walterscheid, Muenster; guards - James McNelly, San Marcos, and Pete Humber, TMI; center - Bob Villack, TMI; backs - Ervin Symank, Concordia; Billy Dunham, TMI; Emmit Herod, Boys Ranch, and Dan Patterson, Buckner.
