Bryan Academy Out To Maintain Record; 10/21/1927

BRYAN, Oct. 20 -- With four scalps dangling on their belts, the Allen Academy football team will attempt to make the season's record five consecutive victories here Saturday when they play the State Institution for the Deaf and Dumb from Austin.  The "Dummies" have always put up good game against Allen Academy and Saturday's tussle is not expected to be an easy game for the locals.

Although his team has been assembled for less than a month, Coaches Puny Wilson, C.E. Devinney and H.B. Slaughter are developing a smooth running machine.  There has never been a better team spirit on the club, and the boys are determined to win each game as they come to them.  Coach Wilson has been putting his boys through such strenuous practice sessions that he is being given the moniker "Hurry Up" Wilson after "Hurry Up" Yost.  Most of the high school teams of the State started practicing about three weeks earlier than Allen Academy.
