LSCSN Announces First Football Broadcast for 2022!

We are excited to announce that we will broadcast - along the LSCSN Mixlr Radio Network - on Saturday, August 27, 2022 the finale of the annual Allen Academy Kickoff Classic -- Huntsville Alpha Omega Academy versus New Braunfels Christian Academy.

New Braunfels Christian Academy, under the guidance of athletic director and head football coach John Bronkhorst, will be playing its first 11-man game in school history.  The Wildcats were 4-7 last year.

Head football coach Jeff Norris' Lions at Alpha Omega Academy were 4-5 in their return to 11-man football a year ago after playing to the same record as a six-man team in the 2020 COVID year.

We appreciate both coaches, Alpha Omega Academy athletic director Wes Jones and Bryan Allen Academy athletic director Adrian Adams for allowing LSCSN to bring everyone this contest.

TEXAS STATE 7-ON-7 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bellaire Episcopal learned on Monday that they would be in Pool G of the Division I tournament with Austin LBJ, Colleyville Heritage and Katy Jordan. 

The Knights will play Austin LBJ at 1 p.m., Katy Jordan at 2:30 p.m. and Colleyville Heritage at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.

FOOTBALL

Bullard The Brook Hill School head football coach Scott Ryle announced on Monday via Twitter an addition to his coaching staff as Leland Watley, II makes the move over from Garrison High School.

Beaumont Kelly officially introduced new head football coach Mike Long to the media on Monday. 

Beaumont Enterprise sportswriter Matt Faye reported that Long is bringing former Port Neches-Groves head coach Matt Burnett to the Bulldogs as their defensive coordinator.  He noted that Long was on Burnett's staff when PN-G went to the UIL 4A title game in 1999.

NCAA MEN'S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES

In Monday's elimination game where Auburn sent the Stanford Cardinal home with a 6-2 victory, former Argyle Liberty Christian star Kason Howell extended his collegiate career another game as he went 2-for-4 in CF for the Tigers.

Houston St. Thomas alum Will Rizzo, a true freshman currently for the Aggies who has not seen action this year, announced early Monday morning via Twitter that he's entering the NCAA transfer portal.

He said, "I have officially entered the transfer portal. Thank you to everyone at Texas A&M for their help and support over the past year. Excited for this next step."

GOLF

While Will Zalatoris, Travis Vick and Jordan Speith were representing Texas private and parochial high schools in the U.S. Open in Brookline, Massachusetts this weekend, Houston The Kinkaid School and University of Texas alum Cole Hammer was making his professional golf debut in Wichita, Kansas.

Despite firing a three-over-par 143 (71-72) in the first two rounds of the Wichita Open Benefitting KU Wichita Pediatrics, Hammer missed the cut by six strokes.  The Wichita Open as part of the Korn Ferry Tour.

COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICANS

On teams that featured 76 and 48 players, respectively, Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy LHP/1B Trenton Shaw and League City Bay Area Christian SS/RHP Jordan Medellin were recognized on Monday by the publication with First and Second Team selections.

Speaking of baseball, @PSTxHSBaseball is wanting to close its books on 2022 Texas private and parochial high school baseball statistics.  If your school hasn't submitted them to Brandon Brunson, please do so as soon as possible via Twitter at @PSTxHSBaseball.

Additionally, San Antonio Antonian's Robert Reyes, who plays 2B/OF, RHP and UT, has been selected to play in the San Antonio Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game that will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Wolff Stadium at 4 p.m.  

REUNION PLANNED

The 1992 Fort Worth Cardinals state championship football team, which defeated Cedar Hill Trinity Christian 29-12 for the TAPPS 3A title that year, announced on Monday that it is is having a reunion in mid-August for former coaches and players in Colleyville.

COMMITMENTS ANNOUNCED

Tomball Concordia Lutheran senior Mikey Peltier announced on Saturday via Twitter that he would be playing basketball for Concordia University in Austin.

Episcopal High School announced on Monday via Twitter that junior Blake Hodgson has committed to play women's soccer for Texas Christian University.  

She said on her Twitter account, "I am blessed to announce that I have verbally committed to further my academic and soccer career at TCU! I would like to thank my family, my coaches, my teammates, and the staff at TCU for supporting me throughout this journey! I am so excited to be a Horned Frog!"

OFFERS ANNOUNCED

Fort Worth Christian WR Jacob Trimble announced on Monday via Twitter that he was offered by Montana State.

Episcopal School of Dallas TE/DE Teddy Sparrow announced on Monday via Twitter that he was offered by NCAA Division III Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

CONGRATULATIONS

Former Houston The Kinkaid School and Houston St. Pius X head football coach (and currently the OC at Spring Westfield) Stephen Hill and his wife are celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on Monday.
