Cathedral Defeats San Antonio 28-23, Enters State Finals; 3/9/1941

 SQUAD MEETS VICTORIA'S TEAM TODAY

San Antonio, March 8 (AP) -- Cathedral High School of El Paso, trying for its fourth consecutive title, and St. Joseph's of Victoria reached the final round of the Catholic High School State basketball tournament here tonight.

Cathedral's polished club bounced out Central Cathoic of San Antonio, 28 to 23, in the semi-finals, after Victoria had crushed St. Joseph's of Dallas, 34 to 13.

The championship final is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, with Catheedral apparently on its way to bringing home the second basketball championship to El Paso in two days.  El Paso High having copped the Interscholastic League crown in Austin Saturday night over Abilene.

In two morning second round games Central defeated St. Mary's of Port Arthur, 40 to 22, and St. Joseph's of Dallas took Kirwin of Galveston, 31 to 13.
