San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 20 (AP) -- St. Mary's University announced here Wednesday that it would sponsor the third annual Texas Catholic High School Basketball tournament here Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6. The winner will represent Texas in the National Catholic Tournament held annually in Chicago.
St. Joseph's of Abilene won the state event in 1935 and Cathedral of El Paso took it in 1936.
Teams which have been sent invitations are St. Mary's of Port Arthur, St. Anthony's of Beaumont, Kirvin of Galveston, Corpus Christi College-Academy, St. Xavier's of Denison, St. Joseph's of Dallas, Cathedral of El Paso, St. Thomas of Houston, St. Joseph's of Victoria, and Central Catholic and St. Henry's, both of San Antonio.
Eligibility requirements kept other schools from receiving invitations.
