Houston Mt. Carmel defeated Incarnate Word, 15-2, 15-0, to win the TCIL State girls volleyball championship at Providence High School Saturday.
St. Gerard's downed Shiner St. Paul, 15-9, 15-4, for third place, and Port Arthur Bishop Byrne tripped St. Francis Academy, 15-5, 15-5, for the consolation title. Port Arthur was the defending state champion.
The all-tournament team was comprised of Mary Fenke and Robbie Epperson of Mt. Carmel, Crickett Bergmann of Incarnate Word, Irma Rivera of St. Francis, Gail Ott of St. Gerard's, and Mary Norris Of Bishop Byrne.
