LSCSN News and Notes; July 11, 2021

Marble Falls Faith Academy, after winning the top seed in pool play on Friday, won the Super Centex Sixman Shootout, played at and hosted by Waco Parkview Christian on Saturday, with a championship game win over Three Way, who was fourth in their pool and beat Austin Veritas (the top seed) to advance to its semifinal.

+ The Woodlands Christian Academy grad Caedmon Parker announced via Twitter late Saturday night that "After lots of prayer and conversation, I am able to announce my withdrawal from the 2021 MLB Draft and I will be attending TCU in the fall!"  lonestarball.com in a July 5th article said that Parker was anywhere from #41 to #220 on various draft boards leading in the MLB draft that begins on Sunday, July 11, 2021. 

+ Tomball Rosehill Christian '15 grad and East Texas Baptist University alum Landen Burns, who is batting .189 in eight games with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in the Mavericks Independent Baseball League, went 1-for-3, playing second base, and drove in a run in the first game of a doubleheader that saw the Volcanoes beat Campesinos de Salem, 5-3, on Saturday night.

+ Kinkaid Athletics (@KinkaidAthletic) noted on Friday that incoming freshman Merritt Skubisz '25 was selected for the U-16 Girls tourney in the Stars and Stripes Game, an elite all-star game featuring the top athletes from around the country by the USA Field Hockey Junior High Performance selectors.  LSCSN notes that Houston St. John's School '24 midfielder Kristina Johnson was also selected.

+ The Midland Reporter Telegram reported on Wednesday that Trinity School of Midland senior Ali Escamilla finished in a tie for 22nd in Tuesday's qualifying round - making the cut by two strokes - to advance to Wednesday's match play portion of Texas Golf Association’s 100th Women’s Texas Amateur at River Crest Country Club.  Escamilla then lost her Championship Flight match 2 & 1 to Fort Bend Ridge Point grad Reagan Gray.
