XC: Austin Champions Homeschool's Elianna Friedman 6th in 5A-6A at Belton Invitational

Junior Elianna Friedman and the Austin Champions Homeschool girls led the way for all private and parochial schools on Friday at the Belton Invitational.

The girls program was the only one competing in the 5A-6A division and Friedman was sixth overall, covering the three mile distance in 20:32.50.

While the team finished seventh out of nine, the next four scoring runners were comprised of two freshmen and two sophomores.

Austin Champions and Waco Live Oak Classical finished fifth and ninth, respectively, in the 1A-4A boys race.

Senior Elijah Keating of the Champions was second overall for the three-mile race in 17:14.20.  Waco Live Oak Classical's top runner was sophomore Noah Hecox, who was 20th overall in 19:17.10.

The 1A-4A girls race didn't have a scoring team, but rather a couple of medalists in Waco Live Oak Classical's Kat Helmer and Jill Wallace, a pair of juniors.

Helmer was second overall on the two-mile course in 13:03 and Wallace was five places back in seventh in 14:02.10.

Temple Central Texas Christian and Georgetown Faith Christian Academy scored in the boys JV three mile race, finishing 10th and 16th, respectively.

The Lions were led by senior Andrew Galvan-Arrien, who was 26th overall in a time of 20:19.70, while Faith Christian's top runner was junior Joshua Mendoza in 23:05.10.

Both schools had runners in the girls JV two mile event was Faith Christian's Kaylee Garza, a sophomore, notched a time of 16:23.40, 44th among 168 runners.
