XC: Dasso and Flanigan lead San Antonio Homeschool Spartans at Kenedy Invitational

The San Antonio Home School Spartans competed on Wednesday at the Kenedy Invitational and did well in a meet with Tilden McMullen, Stockdale, Beeville Jones, Nordheim, Refugio and Kenedy.

For the girls, sophomore Clare Dasso, freshman Sarah Slimpin and senior Elexis Pearson claimed the top three spots.

Dasso won the two-mile race in 12:48.10, followed by Slimpin's 13:31.82 and Pearson's 13:42.13.

The Spartans only ran four, not enough to score as a team, but junior Jochabed Guerra covered the same distance in 15:36.64.

The boys finished second as a team to Tilden McMullen, but only by four points, 38 to 42.

Sophomore Ben Flanigan was second overall in 17:57.58 and no match for defending UIL 1A state champion Isaiah Billingsley who blazed the three-mile course in 15:53.69.

Senior Luke Burris and junior Matthew Burris were in the top ten, finishing seventh and ninth, respectively, in times of 19:22.26 and 19:31.84.

Freshman Kalbe Herndon in 11th and sophomore Thomas Chacko in 19th rounded out the scoring.

Herndon stopped the clock in 19:44.98 while Chacko did so in 21:15.53.
