On Friday, runners from Brownsville St. Joseph Academy competed at the McAllen Bulldog Invitational hosted at the DeLeon Soccer Complex.

While the Bloodhounds didn't field enough runners to score as a team, St. Joseph Academy did well against a field of approximately a dozen UIL public schools.

Seventh and eighth overall in the field of 75 were senior Pedro Cardenas and junior Alejandro Ramirez with 5K marks of 16:39.5 and 16:41.1.

The duo were third and eighth, respectively, at the TAPPS 5A state meet, helping the Bloodhounds to a sixth place overall finish.

Sophomore Jorge Albores was 19th overall in 17:13.9.

For the girls, sophomore Amanda Hinojos was the only Bloodhound to race in the varsity event.  She was 37th in a field of 77 with a 5,000 meter time of 22:03.5.

She was 59th of 160 runners in the TAPPS 5A state meet last November.
