HOUSTON (AP) - The Texas Catholic Interscholastic League opened its baseball tournament today with Beaumont Kelly favored in Class AAA and San Antonio LaSalle picked to win in the Class AA.
Kelly tangled with Houston St. Thomas.
Other pairings: Victoria St. Joseph vs. Abilene Central Catholic, Corpus Christi Academy vs. Ennis St. John's and San Antonio Catholic vs. Fort Worth Nolan.
LaSalle drew an opening round bye and will not play until Saturday. It won the meet last year, when there was only one division.
