1971 TCIL Football: Academy's Robison To Take New Post

Tom Robison, highly successful football and baseball coach at Corpus Christi Academy for the past four years, has resigned to accept the position as assistant football and head baseball coach at Gregory-Portland High School.

Robison announced his resignation yesterday and said he plans to report to his new post Aug. 1.

Robison took over the coaching jobs and athletic directorship at Academy in 1967 nd immediately started turning out champions.  The Cavaliers won the state Texas Catholic Interscholastic League football championship in 1967, and reached the state finals last year.

In 1967-68-69 his baseball teams won three successive state TCIL championships and in 1969 he was named TCIL Baseball Coach of the Year.

"This is exctly the type of job I have been looking for," Robison said.  "I didn't want to leave the Corpus Christi area."

Robison has been coaching for 14 years.  He came to Academy from Yoakum St. Joseph's.
