1972 TCIL Golf: Jesuit Wins TCIL Golf

Lee Carter paced Dallas Jesuit to a repeat of its state TCIL championship in Friday's concluding round at Olmos Basin.

Jesuit tallied 616 total strokes, with Beaumont Kelley second at 634, then Wichita Falls Notre Dame 641, Houston St. Thomas 644, Houston Strake Jesuit 682 and San Antonio 743.

Carter fired a 73 Friday to wind up with a 36-hole total of 142, two under par.  Don Turkleson of Kelly was runnerup with 146.

BEAUMONT KELLY (634) - Don Turkleson 146, James Lopez 155, Alan Fama 156, Gary Varga 177.

WICHITA FALLS NOTRE DAME (641) - Benny Shipley 150, John Casey 158, Steve Moore 164, Mike Shepley 169.

HOUSTON ST. THOMAS (644) - Burke Lane 153, Bob Olson 159, John Rathmell 161, Al Martinez 171.

HOUSTON STRAKE JESUIT (682) - George Manuel 168, Rick Porter 170, Charles Eick 170, Robert Ennis 174, Ed Landry 180.

ANTONIAN (743) - Jerry Gonzalez 160, Tom Short 177, Tim Short 201, Keith Troup 205.

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITORS - Mike Moody, 154 and Wes Berkovsky, 160, both from Fort Worth Nolan.
